Major League Soccer on Monday named Seattle Sounders winger Jordan Morris to its Week 28 Team of the Week for his stellar performance in the 4-2 win over the New York Red Bulls on Sunday. Additionally, midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro was named to the Team of the week bench.
Morris opened the scoring in the second minute, redirecting a headed ball from Gustav Svensson off a corner kick past Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles. The Homegrown product turned provider 20 minutes later, as he set up the first of Lodeiro’s two goals with an acrobatic header, which the Uruguayan maestro duly volleyed home.
With the Sounders looking to hold on for a 3-2 win late in the match, Lodeiro scored in the third minute of second-half stoppage time to make it 4-2, effectively guaranteeing three points for the Rave Green. Facing a quick turnaround, the Sounders will host FC Dallas at CenturyLink Field on Wednesday night (7:30 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM | TICKETS).
