Major League Soccer on Monday named Seattle Sounders defender Kelvin Leerdam to its Week 2 Team of the Week for his efforts in a 2-0 win over the Colorado Rapids.
Leerdam scored his second goal in as many matches to start the season and helped the defense pitch a shutout. He also completed 86 percent of his passes and had four recoveries on defense.
This is the second straight week a Sounder has earned Team of the Week honors. Jordan Morris, who was also voted Week 1 MLS Player of the Week, and Nicolás Lodeiro were named to last week’s team, with VÃctor RodrÃguez making the bench.
The Sounders will visit the Chicago Fire on Saturday (10 a.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 959 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM) at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Ill.
