Major League Soccer has named Seattle Sounders defender Chad Marshall to its Week 23 Team of the Week for his efforts in a 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday.
Marshall anchored a back line that earned its fourth consecutive shutout and has not allowed a goal in a club-record 400 minutes. Marshall finished with three clearances, a team-leading six interceptions and a 92.5 pass completion percentage. This is Marshall’s second Team of the Week nod this season (Week 13).
MLS also named Sounders fullback Kelvin Leerdam to its Team of the Week bench. Seattle has yet to concede since Leerdam entered as a second-half substitute against D.C. United on July 19 (396 minutes).
