And now the road to recovery begins.
On Wednesday afternoon, Sounders forward Jordan Morris posted a photo from a hospital bed with a thumbs up. The caption was "Successful surgery today! Thank you for all the prayers and support."
Last month, Morris suffered a
season-ending ACL tear
during the second half of a CONCACAF Champions League match against Santa Tecla in El Salvador. It was a devastating blow for the 23-year-old from Mercer Island, who look strong and healthy throughout preseason after battling injuries in 2017. As a rookie in 2016, Morris was named the AT&T Rookie of the Year.
Despite the injury, the club has been actively supporting the Homegrown Player. Prior to the match against LAFC on March 4, the Sounders displayed a banner that said "Get Well Soon, Jordan."
