Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris and midfielder Cristian Roldan started for the United States in a scoreless friendly draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., on Sunday.
Morris led the U.S. with three shots in the full 90 minutes, while Roldan patrolled the middle of the park for 68 minutes before exiting for Juan Agudelo. Morris and Roldan earned their 25th and second caps, respectively.
Morris was active offensively all night. He beat his man 1v1 in the 23rd minute and crossed a left-footed effort to the near post. He almost found the back of the net in the 51st minute, but pushed his shot wide, after setting up Paul Arriola with a great cross in the 50th.
Roldan was strong on both sides of the ball, showcasing his great defensive ability on more than once occasion.
The duo will rejoin their club teammates, who just finished their first week of preseason about an hour south of Los Angeles at in Chula Vista, Calif. Seattle defeated Mexico’s Club Tijuana’s U-20 team in a scrimmage on Sunday morning.
