The weekly awards just keep rolling in.
Following the announcement that three Sounders had made the Week 19 MLS Team of the Week, including Raúl Ruidíaz winning Player of the Week, as well as a rise in the latest edition of Power Rankings, it should come as no surprise the Seattle Sounders FC wingback Jimmy Medranda has won the AT&T Goal of the Week.
In a 6-2 win over a bitter rival, the Sounders produced three strong Goal of the Week contenders on long-range strikes from Fredy Montero, Ruidíaz and Medranda. While all three were impressive, Medranda's side-winding volley became the clear frontrunner of the bunch and has a strong case for the 2021 Goal of the Year. Medranda won the weekly award with 77.5 percent of the vote. The next closest option was Ruidíaz's rocket of a free kick with 15.4 percent.
The Seattle Sounders return to action on Wednesday as they visit FC Dallas (5:30 p.m. PT; Q13 FOX, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360AM) at Toyota Stadium before traveling to Ohio for a 2020 MLS Cup rematch with the Columbus Crew (2:30 p.m. PT; ESPN, ESPN Deportes, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360AM) on Saturday.
