On Wednesday, Forbes.com released a list of the league’s most valuable clubs, estimating the Seattle Sounders' worth at $295 million, second in MLS. The LA Galaxy ($315M) came in first, while Toronto FC ($280 million), New York City FC ($275 million) and Orlando City SC ($272 million) round out the top five.
"The Sounders, now worth $295 million, remain a close second, which ought to be no surprise considering that the team is coming off its first ever championship victory in 2016. And that timing couldn’t be much better: The Sounders recently announced that they have partnered with WME-IMG to sell a sponsorship package that will include the team’s jersey-front, match-day field and training ground rights after the team’s current deal with Microsoft’s Xbox expires following next season." The average MLS team is now worth $223 million, up 20% from last year's $185 million.
