Following the team’s 5-2 win versus Sporting Kansas City on Sunday night at Lumen Field, Seattle Sounders forward Danny Musovski and midfielder Danny Leyva earned MLS Team of the Matchday honors for Matchday 30.
Musovski was named to the TOTM Starting XI, while Leyva was featured on the bench.
Musovski's selection comes after his three-goal performance in Sunday's fixture. The forward tallied the team's second goal of the night in the first minute of first half stoppage time with a diving header off a cross from Reed Baker-Whiting. Then in the 50th minute, Musovski found another header into the back of net, redirecting a corner kick produced by Leyva. He finished off the night with a penalty goal in the 75th minute, marking his first MLS hat trick of his career.
Leyva played a crucial role in four of the five goals, providing one primary and two secondary assists while drawing the penalty that led to Musovki's third goal of the night. He also won the most duels of any other player (10), had a 100% success rate in attempted dribbles, and made two clearances.
The Sounders return to action on Wednesday when they visit Dignity Health Sports Park to face LA Galaxy in the Leagues Cup Semifinals (7:45 p.m. PT; Watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV) in Carson, Calif.
