Following the team’s 4-1 win versus St. Louis CITY on Saturday night at Lumen Field, Seattle Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 8.
Cristian was one of the four midfielders to make the Starting XI after tallying a brace for the Rave Green.
The Sounders veteran scored nearly identical goals in the first half from one-time finishes off an Albert Rusnák corner kick. As the ball came crashing toward the far post, Roldan met it with a header in the 22nd minute, then struck again from the same spot 15 minutes later, lacing the ball into the goal.
He was present on all areas of the pitch, serving as the No. 6 for the majority of the match before transitoning into the center back position in the final 30 minutes of regulation. He finished the match with a 95% pass completion rate, 10 passes into the final third, 7 clearances, 2 interceptions and 8 recoveries.
