Another week, another round of inclusions on the MLS Team of the Week for Seattle Sounders players.
Major League Soccer on Monday named João Paulo and Cristian Roldan to the Week 29 Team of the Week following their monster performances in Seattle's 3-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Sunday. This marks Roldan's second consecutive appearance on TOTW, while it's the second in three weeks for João Paulo.
Roldan got the Rave Green off to a dream start against a Colorado side vying for top spot in the Western Conference as the attacking midfielder put Seattle 1-0 up in the 2nd minute, scoring in his fourth consecutive match across all competitions. In addition to his goal, Roldan notched two assists, two tackles and seven successful pressures.
For the second time this season, João Paulo got himself on the scoresheet with a Goal of the Year candidate. The Brazilian midfielder picked up a second ball inside his own half and subsequently dribbled through four defenders and scoring on a 60-yard solo run. João Paulo also posted an assist, four key passes and a tackle.
The Sounders return to action on Saturday as they host the Vancouver Whitecaps (6:00 p.m. PT; FOX 13+, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360AM | TICKETS) at Lumen Field.
