The Seattle Sounders played to a scoreless draw at the Vancouver Whitecaps last Sunday in the first leg of the Western Conference Semifinals of the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs, and a large part of that clean sheet was the play of Cristian Roldan at defensive midfield. In this edition of Quest Diagnostics Advanced Stats, we take a look at Roldan’s performance.
Roldan started next to Jordy Delem in the absence of Osvaldo Alonso and Gustav Svensson and held his own in the middle. Roldan completed 71 passes with an 86-percent completion rate and was a part of eight duels.
Roldan and the Sounders will look to take care of business in the second leg on Thursday (7:30 p.m. PT; FS1, FOX Deportes, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM) and advance to the Western Conference Championship for the second straight year.
