Earlier today, Seattle Sounders forward Clint Dempsey announced his retirement from professional soccer, concluding a historic 15-year career that saw him play for the New England Revolution, Fulham FC, Tottenham Hotspur and Sounders FC, in addition to the U.S. Men's National Team.
Arguably the most accomplished player in the history of U.S. soccer, Dempsey is to be honored this Saturday, September 1, in a pre-match ceremony before the Sounders take on Sporting Kansas City at 1:00 p.m. PT (JOEtv, Univision Deportes Network, Twitter, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to CenturyLink Field to take part in this special opportunity to celebrate Dempsey's career. The first 20,000 through the gates will receive a special commemorative poster and fans can also take a moment before the match to sign a special farewell tribute to "Deuce" in Soccer Celebration, located in the Northwest Concourse of the stadium.
In order to not miss the ceremony, fans should be in their seats no later than 12:45 p.m. PT.
