Despite the difficult result from Saturday’s 1-0 home loss to the Montreal Impact, there was a small achievement for stalwart defender Chad Marshall. The 33-year-old center back put together his strong 90-minute outing as usual, and in doing so, he passed Fredy Montero for the sixth-most club appearances in league play.

The three-time MLS Defender of the Year is one of the longest-tenured players on the club, trailing just Osvaldo Alonso (2009) and Clint Dempsey (2013). Marshall and Stefan Frei each signed in December 2013. Marshall has played in at least 28 matches in each of his four full seasons with the Rave Green.
He now has 120 appearances with Seattle since the start of the 2014 season after 10 years with the Columbus Crew.
