Highlights
The longtime face of the franchise and the club leader in MLS games played, Osvaldo Alonso is arguably the best defensive midfielder in league history. The former Sounders captain was a constant in the midfield and helped Seattle win four U.S. Open Cups, a Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup.
Nicolás Lodeiro stormed onto the Major League Soccer scene in 2016, arriving over the summer and helping lead the Sounders to one of the league’s most incredible turnarounds en route to lifting MLS Cup. In less than three years, Lodeiro has already become the club’s all-time assist leader and is one of the hardest working and most effective playmaking No. 10s in MLS.
Argentine playmaker Mauro Rosales racked up 12 goals and 34 assists in 86 matches from 2011-13. He is second all-time in assists, only behind Lodeiro, and was a driving force behind Seattle’s success.
Another face of the franchise and MLS original, Brad Evans is second all-time in games played, only behind Alonso. The former Sounders captain spent time in midfield and defense and, like Alonso, helped the club win six major trophies. He finished his Sounders career with 20 goals and 27 assists in 200 matches.
Now in his fifth professional season at just 23, Cristian Roldan is already fifth all-time in Sounders appearances among field players. The University of Washington product has solidified himself as one of the emerging domestic stars in MLS and has played his way onto the United States national team. He has recorded 17 goals and 17 assists in 135 matches from his box-to-box midfield role.
Steve Zakuani was one of the most electric wingers in the league from the moment he stepped on the field. The No. 1 pick in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft, Zakuani scored 17 goals and added 17 assists in 97 matches from 2009-13. His career was cut short due to injury, but when healthy, few were more dangerous on the ball 1-v-1.
