Following the club's 3-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday night, Seattle Sounders midfielder Albert Rusnák was named to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Matchday for Matchday 36.
Rusnák recorded a goal and two assists against the Cascadia rivals, serving as a vital piece to all three attacking opportunities.
His first contribution came in the 14th minute when his corner kick landed at the back post for midfielder Georgi Minoungou to use his body to push the ball into the goal. Then, in the 65th minute, the Slovak international was called upon to take a penalty kick after midfielder Paul Rothrock was fouled in the box. He calmly placed the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal to extend the Sounders’ lead to two. His final goal contribution came two minutes later when he laid the ball off to Rothrock who dribbled toward goal and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka and into the back of the net.
The Sounders return to action on Oct. 5 as they take on the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (6:30 p.m. PT; Watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360AM).
