Galaxy II controlled the match throughout the first half, but S2 outshot its opponents 9-6. Twice, S2 forward Darwin Jones thought he was clear on goal, but was called offside. The half would end 0-0 without either goalkeeper being tested.

In the second half, S2 nearly took the lead in the 57th minute as midfielder SĂ©rgio shot from just outside the 18-yard-box, however Galaxy II goalkeeper Clement Diop made a save to keep the match even.

In the 73rd minute, Andy Craven sent a through ball down the right side of the LA penalty area, where second-half substitute Sam Garza received it. Garza sent a low cross in front of goal into Kovar’s path, with the Sounders FC Homegrown Player finding the net for his first professional goal. Garza earned his second assist of the season with the strike.

SĂ©rgio was ejected from the match in the 89th minute for violent conduct. The midfielder will miss S2’s next match at Arizona United SC on June 20 at Scottsdale Stadium (7:00 p.m. PT / SoundersFC.com).
