TACOMA, WASH.– MLS NEXT Pro today announced that Tacoma Defiance’s Western Conference Finals matchup with St. Louis CITY2 is set for Sunday, October 2 at 5:30 p.m. PT at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Illinois and is being live-streamed on mlsnextpro.com. Defiance earned a thrilling, come-from-behind victory over Houston Dynamo 2 last night in the Western Conference Semifinals, advancing via penalties after a 2-2 draw following 120 minutes of play. The winner of this Sunday’s match advances to MLS NEXT Pro Cup against the winner of the Eastern Conference Finals between Columbus Crew 2 and TFC II.
Tacoma finished the regular season 49 points (14-6-4), good for the Pacific Division title and the second seed in the Western Conference. Last night’s victory was the first playoff win in the club’s history, dating back to 2014 when the club was known as S2. St Louis CITY2 won the Frontier Division and captured the top seed in the Western Conference after earning 49 points (15-6-3) in the 2022 regular season.
