SEATTLE, WASH – Tacoma Defiance today announced that it has signed midfielder Reed Baker-Whiting. The Sounders FC Academy product and Seattle native gives Defiance 16 players signed to its active roster, with the club playing its next match on Monday, August 3 at Portland Timbers 2 (6:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+). The 15-year-old U.S. Youth National Team player has appeared as a substitute in both of Defiance’s matches since USL resumed play following the COVID-19 shutdown.
In addition to the signing of Baker-Whiting, below are recent team notes from this week:
- USL announced yesterday that Tacoma’s match this evening, July 23 has been postponed due to a positive COVID-19 test from within Reno’s club. Defiance's schedule has now been adjusted to add a road match at Reno on September 16, while the previously-scheduled October 3 road fixture at Reno has been moved to Cheney Stadium.
- Following the club’s 3-0 win over Portland Timbers 2 on July 18, forward Alec Díaz was named to USL Team of the Week, while Danny Robles was included on the bench. Each scored on Saturday evening for Defiance’s first win of 2020.
