Following an emphatic 6-1 home win over San Jose Earthquakes II, the Tacoma Defiance have landed in the No. 3 spot of MLSNEXTPro.com's Week 11 Power Rankings.
Saturday's landslide victory over their Pacific Division rivals saw the Defiance move into second place in the Western Conference table, just one point shy of leaders North Texas SC.
"Make it seven straight games without a loss for Tacoma Defiance after they scored six goals in a victory over Earthquakes II on Sunday," wrote MLSNEXTPro.com's Ramon Chavez. "Six different Defiance players bagged a goal, including Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez, who scored his seventh of the season."
It's been a fantastic start to the team's inaugural season in MLS NEXT Pro. Averaging 2.09 points per game, the Defiance boast the most prolific attack in the league with 29 goals scored. 14 different players have already scored just 11 games into the season, with five Defiance members posting multiple goals. Marlon Vargas in particular is enjoying a breakout season, notching four goals (second most on team) and three assists from just shy of 700 minutes played.
The Defiance return to action on June 12 when they visit Whitecaps FC 2 (2:00 p.m. PT | Stream on MLSNEXTPro.com), who currently sit two points behind Tacoma for first place in the Pacific Division.
