HOUSTON, TEXAS – Tacoma Defiance (7-3-4, 28 points) lost 1-0 to Houston Dynamo 2 (8-4-1, 25 points) on Sunday night, ending club’s nine-match unbeaten streak that started on April 25.
After a nearly scoreless 90 minutes, Houston’s Marcelo Palomino broke the deadlock in the 89th minute, scoring from outside the area off a free kick. The shot snuck through the Defiance wall and found the bottom corner of the net. The loss marks the first time that Tacoma, the league-leaders in goals scored (35), has been shut out all season.
Following the result tonight, Wade Webber’s side has a week off before heading down to Oregon for a rematch with rival Timbers2 (7:00p.m. PT / mlsnextpro.com).
