Chad Marshall, the 2014 MLS Defender of the Year.
Announced early Tuesday by Major League Soccer, the award for the top defender in the league was given to the Sounders own Chad Marshall for his outstanding season of #AirMarshall'ing up all the headballs and #GroundMarshall'ing all the uh...groundballs.
Finishing ahead of D.C. United's Bobby Boswell (who won the media and management voting), Marshall was the overwhelming winner of the player voting for his fantastic season in 2014. Steadying the Sounders backline following an offseason trade from Columbus, Marshall has been one of the club's best and most consistent contributors this year. LA's Omar Gonzalez finished third with Columbus' Michael Parkhurst a distant fourth.
With the news still fresh this morning, let's see how the world reacted to the award through the magic that is embeddable tweets.

This is a cool note here, friends.
We can basically attribute the award to Cam Weaver.
The other awesome Chad agreed...
Commissioner Garber was pleased with the decision.
Yes they did, Jeremiah.

Wise words from the one and only Ross Fletcher.
Big shoutout from the bossman here.
Best hashtag ever? Best hashtag ever.
Some good reporting work by my buddy Charlie. Marshall quietly ruled the back this year.
Never enough Chad Marshall. NEVER ENOUGH.
I'll end with this one as no one can say it better than Zach Scott.
