Seattle Sounders forwards Clint Dempsey and Jordan Morris will begin on the bench for the United States men’s national team on Friday against Costa Rica on Matchday 7 of the Hexagonal in CONCACAF 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. PT on ESPN.
Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan is one of three players not on the matchday roster.
Dempsey has 57 career U.S. goals and is tied with Landon Donovan for the all-time U.S. men’s record. Dempsey has 18 goals in 39 career World Cup Qualifying appearances, the most WCQ tallies in U.S. men’s history. He has four goals in four games in this WCQ cycle, including a hat trick against Honduras back in March.
Morris has five goals in 22 career caps, including the game-winning goal in July’s Gold Cup Final. He has three WCQ appearances.
Roldan made his U.S. debut during the group stage at the Gold Cup and has earned his second consecutive call-up to Head Coach Bruce Arena’s team.
