The United States U-17 men’s national team has called in Seattle Sounders Academy U-16s goalkeeper Sam Fowler to its first domestic training camp ahead of October’s 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.
Head coach John Hackworth named 29 players to a roster that will convene from July 21-29 at Atlanta United FC’s training grounds. The camp will feature friendlies against local competition including PDL’s Tormenta FC and NPSL’s Atlanta Silverbacks.
The Atlanta camp will be the first of four camps for Hackworth and his staff to evaluate players for World Cup selection. Fowler is one of three players making his 2017 debut with the U-17s.
The United States will be in Group A with India, Colombia and Ghana. Click here for the U.S.’ full World Cup schedule.
