Nicolás Lodeiro is on the doorstep of his third FIFA World Cup.
Uruguay on Tuesday named the Seattle Sounders midfielder to its preliminary 26-man roster ahead of the tournament in Russia this summer. Final 23-man rosters are due to FIFA by June 4.
Lodeiro, 29, has 53 caps for La Celeste, including eight during the most recent World Cup Qualifying cycle. He made three appearances in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and then another three in 2014 in Brazil.
Lodeiro joins fellow Sounders Gustav Svensson (Sweden) and Román Torres (Panama) as players who have been selected to provisional 2018 World Cup rosters.
