After just nearly missing out on Uruguay’s 23-man roster for this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia, Nicolás Lodeiro will join La Celeste in Houston on Sept. 7 for a friendly against Mexico.
Lodeiro was called into Head Coach Fabián Coito’s side after an injury to Giorgian De Arrascaeta. Joining Lodeiro is PSG star Edinson Cavani and good friend and Barcelona forward Luis Suarez.
Since returning from Uruguay camp ahead of the World Cup, Lodeiro has been on an absolute tear, recording seven goals and seven assists in 15 matches and helping spark the Sounders’ MLS-record eight-match winning streak.
