Thursday night may have not been a Sounders matchday, but you would not have known if you strolled by The NINETY in Pioneer Square. The space was filled with supporters, corporate partners, community groups and players as the organization hosted the Community Kickoff and Fundraiser. Director of Community Outreach Roger Levesque spoke in front of more than 90 attendees about how Sounders FC’s community programming will change for 2015.
“We’re shifting from a community partner structure to a mission-driven strategy. Our new vision is
United in Green
. We’re focusing on growing the game of soccer and letting the game be the teacher,” Levesque noted. “We’re also looking to do more for those that need it.”
With all the stakeholders present, Levesque saw the event as a way to jump-start his programming for the new year.
“An event like this is awesome because it gets a lot of different people in the room,” said Levesque. “It’s the players, it’s the staff, it’s the coaches, and it’s community partners, our own business staff – leveraging all those assets. I think we can make a bigger impact collectively than we can as individuals.”
The event also marked the launch of Sounders FC’s new Community website. United in Green features a new look on the web that better highlights the programs and partners that the club will be collaborating with moving forward.
