The Seattle Sounders are hosting CF Montréal on Wednesday (7:08 p.m. PT; FOX 13+, Prime Video, 93.3 KJR FM, El Rey 1360AM | TICKETS) in their only meeting of the season. Here are three matchups to watch:
Will Bruin vs. Rudy Camacho
After a great showing in his start against Sporting Kansas City this past weekend, Bruin may very well get the start up front again with RaĂºl RuidĂaz still nursing a hamstring injury. Bruin plays forward similarly to RuidĂaz and is a monster in the air, so it allows the Sounders to play their normal style and look for Bruin making darting runs in the box. He’ll line up against French defender Rudy Camacho, one of three center backs in Wilfried Nancy’s 3-4-2-1 formation.
Jordan Morris vs. Alistair Johnston
It’ll be a Concacaf battle down the left flank on Wednesday, as United States international Morris goes head-to-head with Canadian Johnston. Morris has been in fine form of late, with three goals and an assist in his last five matches for club and country. Johnston has been one of the best intra-league acquisitions this season, after the 23-year-old right wingback burst onto the scene with Nashville SC the past two years.
Yeimar vs. Romell Quioto
Yeimar returned from injury on Saturday and helped keep a clean sheet, a promising sign for the Sounders as normal running mate Xaiver Arreaga just went down with a hamstring injury of his own. Jackson Ragen will have plenty to say in this matchup as well, but the presence of Yeimar will be vital in slowing down MLS veteran Quioto, who scored over the weekend to push his season total to six to go along with three assists.
