The Seattle Sounders are hosting FC Dallas this Saturday (7:30 p.m. PT; Watch free on Apple TV | TICKETS) Â in their first of two meetings this season. Here are three matchups to watch:
Raúl RuidÃaz vs. Sebastien Ibeagha
Raúl RuidÃaz's talent on both a tactical and technical standpoint explains why he is one of the top goal scorers in Sounders club history. While only being available for 13 games so far this season, he ranks second for the team in goals scored with four. He will likely go up against Dallas defender Sebastien Ibeagha. It’s the center back’s first year with the Texas squad, as he was previously at LAFC the year prior. He’s started in 16 of the 20 games he’s played in so far this season while tallying a goal and an assist for the Dallas team.Â
Alex Roldan vs. Alan Velasco
Since Alex Roldan’s arrival back from international duty with El Salvador, it’s clear how much of a difference he makes on the pitch for the Rave Green. Not only does he serve as a vital asset in the backline, he also utilizes his offensive mindset to support his teammates up top. He currently ranks third on the team in key passes. He will likely go head-to-head with winger Alan Velasco, who has tallied two goals and three assists so far this season.Â
João Paulo vs. Jesús Ferreira
João Paulo is arguably the glue that holds the team together. Not only does he play a major role in controlling the momentum of the game, but he does it to a degree that is unmatched. He is one of the most accurate high-volume passers across the league (1226/1378, 89.0%). He’ll need to be aware of forward Jesús Ferreira, who's already contributed to 10 goals so far this season and likes to drop into midfield. He also tallied two hat tricks during the U.S. Men’s National Team’s run in the Gold Cup. João Paulo will need to monitor the movement of Ferreira immediately as he is considered Dallas’ main point of attack.
