The Seattle Sounders are headed to Texas to take on Austin FC this Wednesday (5:30 p.m. PT; Watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360AM) in their second and final meeting of the regular season. Here are three matchups to watch:
Jackson Ragen vs Sebastián Driussi
Jackson Ragen's consistency in the backline is a huge reason why he’s remained in the starting center back role throughout the season. His ability to distribute long balls for potential attacking opportunities while also making big plays in crucial defensive moments has been indespensible. Ragen will need to be aware of Austin’s captain Sebastián Driussi. Driussi currently leads the team in goals this season (7), making him an extremely vital piece to Austin’s attack. He’s also supported the team to 3 assists throughout MLS regular season play this year.
Nicolás Lodeiro vs. Owen Wolff
Nicolás Lodeiro is coming off a performance in which he tallied an assist on Yeimar's goal in the 1-1 draw with Minnesota United. He not only leads the Rave Green in assists (9), but he’s in the No. 1 spot in key passes (48) as well. Lodeiro will likely battle it out with Austin midfielder Owen Wolff. The Homegrown player has tallied one goal and three assists so far this season for the Austin squad. Wolff was also a part of the U.S. roster for this year's U-20 FIFA World Cup where he played a vital role in the midfield in the team's run to the quarterfinals.
Jordan Morris vs. Matt Hedges
Jordan Morris has the potential to play both at the wing or up top in the upcoming match against Austin FC. While the veteran player still leads the Rave Green in goals this season with 9, he is itching to get another one this Wednesday as the Sounders seek to round into form for the final stretch of the season. He’ll likely go head-to-head with Austin center back Matt Hedges. Hedges was recently picked up from the Texas squad in July through a trade with Toronto FC.
