Former Seattle Sounders defender Jimmy Medranda signed with Eastern Conference side Columbus Crew SC on Friday.
The Colombian wingback scored some unforgettable goals during his time in Rave Green. Let's take a look back at his five best goals that made his stint with the club a memorable one.
Lethal volley vs. Portland
We all remember the 6-2 romp over the Portland Timbers at Providence Park on August 15, 2021, which saw the Sounders run rampant, scoring worldies at will on the home field of their biggest rivals. But Medrana’s wonderstrike in the 77th minute was the best of the bunch.
With Seattle ahead 4-2, Medranda got on the end of a corner kick from João Paulo and absolutely smashed his first-time shot off the underside of the crossbar and into the net. Simply put, it’s as clean a volley as you’ll ever see and one of the best goals in Sounders history.
Rapids rocket
Ater that Portland strike, Medranda garnered attention with his propensity for golazos, especially with another memorably vicious first-time strike on October 3, 2021 against the Colorado Rapids at Lumen Field.
Credit to João Paulo on this one for the cheeky flicked assist.
Laser vs. Dynamo
Medranda’s “Bangers Only” reputation only gained more fuel when he added to the list against Houston Dynamo FC on October 16, 2021.
With Seattle facing a 2-0 deficit, Medranda pulled one back in trademark fashion, giving no chance to the diving goalkeeper with this far-post strike, which he really could not have hit any sweeter.
Leveler vs. Whitecaps
The next entry on the list is where it all began, when Medranda opened his Seattle account on June 26, 2021 against Cascadia rivals Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Once again, just look at the power behind this strike – another first-time smash off a recycled João Paulo corner kick.
US Open Cup kick free kick
Medranda’s highlight-reel goal-scoring wasn’t limited to MLS play. He also had one in Seattle’s 2022 US Open Cup matchup against the San Jose Earthquakes at Starfire Sports Complex last season, which saw him net the Sounders’ first goal goal of the match with a curling left-footed free kick that bent over the wall and went in at the near post. It sparked a comeback that saw Seattle erase a two-goal deficit to send the match to extra time and penalties, where the Earthquakes eventually advanced to the next round,
