Clint Dempsey likes scoring goals, and he showed that on Tuesday evening while playing for the United States Men’s National Team. In the USMNT’s first CONCACAF Gold Cup Group Stage match against Honduras, Dempsey scored both tallies in the 2-1 win for the Stars and Stripes.
Defender Tyrone Mears likes scoring goals, too, but it doesn’t happen at the same frequency as Dempsey, who is tied for the team lead with seven goals in league action. Mears opened his MLS scoring account last Friday in Sounders FC’s 1-0 win over Eastern Conference leader D.C. United.
