SEATTLE, WASH. – Major League Soccer announced today that Seattle Sounders FC’s season-finale against Real Salt Lake on Sunday, October 23 is being aired on ESPN as part of Decision Day, with kickoff starting at 1:00 p.m. PT in front of a full-stadium crowd on the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field. The match is one of two fixtures being broadcast nationally, along with FC Dallas’ match at the LA Galaxy on FS1.
MLS broadcast partners ESPN and FS1 have selected two of the most compelling games to bring to a national audience as all 20 clubs, playing intraconference matches, kick-off the final day of regular season action simultaneously at 1:00 p.m. PT. In addition to live game coverage, each broadcast features live look-ins and match analysis of all 10 matchups. Decision Day action also airs in more than 170 countries.
Airing parallel to the ESPN and ESPN Deportes broadcast, ESPN2’s “MLS Decision Day Whiparound” studio show provides two hours of unprecedented Decision Day coverage, bringing fans every breathtaking goal, save and key moment from around the final day of action.
Currently Sounders FC sits in fifth place in the Western Conference ahead of next Sunday’s pivotal Decision Day clash, where the Rave Green need a win in their season finale to control their own destiny for a berth in the 2016 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. Seattle can also clinch a spot in the postseason if the Portland Timbers or Sporting Kansas City lose or draw to Vancouver and San Jose, respectively, on Decision Day, as the Rave Green would hold the total-wins tiebreaker over both sides.
