Seattle Sounders FC today announced that the team’s in-house matchday broadcast has been awarded three 2021 Emmy Awards by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Northwest Chapter. At the 58th Annual Northwest Regional Emmy Awards ceremony held virtually on Saturday evening, the Rave Green broadcast team came away with the top prize in the Live Sporting Event / Game, Live Sports Program and Sports Play-by-Play / Analyst Team categories.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to see the hard work of our broadcast team recognized publicly in the form of these three Northwest Emmy Awards,” said Sounders FC Owner & President of Business Operations Peter Tomozawa. “Last season came with a host of never-before-seen challenges that our crew rose to meet, exceeding expectations and underscoring the important work that they do to ensure that Sounders fans can stay in tune with the club. The quality, creativity and dedication of the broadcast team, from on-screen talent to those behind the scenes, shines through and we’re very proud of their accomplishments.”
In the Live Sporting Event / Game category, Sounders FC earned the award for its 2020 season coverage, taking the category for the second time – having first won in 2010 following the club’s inaugural MLS season. The club’s other two awards were both first-time victories. Sounders FC’s pre-match show won the Live Sports Program category and talent team comprised of Keith Costigan, Kasey Keller and Steve Zakuani took home the Sports Play-by-Play / Analyst Team.
The club broadcast is produced in-house and spearheaded by Ryan Schaber (Executive Producer), Glen Wilhem (Director), Keely Dunning (Broadcast Manager), David Wallingford (Technical Manager) and Jason Bruce (Director / Technical Director), providing fans throughout the region with quality team reporting and analysis and varied broadcast options.
In addition to the 2021 Emmy victories, Sounders FC soccer has also been nominated for Northwest Emmy Awards in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016 and 2017.
