Sounders FC waives forward Andy Craven

Craven celebration

SEATTLE, WASH. – Sounders FC today announced that it has waived forward Andy Craven. The second-year forward made three MLS appearances after he was added to the First Team roster in June of 2015. Craven also logged 30 matches for Sounders FC 2 over the past two seasons, recording eight goals and seven assists.

Craven, 24, was signed to Sounders FC’s First Team roster on June 27, 2015 after recording five goals and five assists in 14 appearances for Sounders FC 2 during the first half its inaugural USL campaign. He made three MLS appearances for Seattle before suffering a left knee injury that ended his season. The club then signed the St. Simmons Island, Georgia native to another First Team contract prior to the 2016 season. Despite not making an appearance in MLS this season, Craven has three goals and two assists for S2 in 2016.

The Rave Green selected Craven in the Third Round of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft following an impressive collegiate career at the University of North Carolina and College of Charleston. A MAC Hermann Trophy finalist as a senior, Craven was tied for first in the country with 15 goals for the Tar Heels in 2014, including a nation-leading eight game-winners.

Following a home draw Sunday with the LA Galaxy, Seattle Sounders FC (6-12-3, 21 points) hits the road this weekend for a nationally-televised matchup against Orlando City SC this Sunday, August 7 (4:00 p.m. PT / FS1, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM). Sunday's fixture marks Sounders FC's first-ever trip to Orlando, as the club aims to earn three points in its first road match under Interim Head Coach Brian Schmetzer.
