Seattle Sounders FC today shared details surrounding the variety of matchday activities planned for tonight's historic winner-take-all second leg of the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Final. Being played at Lumen Field in a 7:00 p.m. PT kickoff (FS1, TUDN, 93.3 KJR FM, El Rey 1360 AM), the game’s attendance is expected to break the all-time attendance record for a Concacaf Champions League match, with over 67,000 tickets sold as fans eagerly look forward to the chance to witness the Rave Green raise a major trophy.
With such a large crowd anticipated, Sounders FC urges all fans to arrive early and plan for more vehicular and foot traffic than usual. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. PT – 30 minutes earlier than a typical home game. Those wishing to enjoy the pre-match ceremonies should arrive no later than 6:00 p.m. PT, with travel times expected to higher due to the mid-week nature of the match and the size of the crowd.
In the stadium’s North Plaza, a special pre-game concert by Marshall Law Band is scheduled for 5:00-6:30 p.m. PT, with bar pop-ups and food trucks available for refreshments.
Featured food trucks, sourced in partnership with Intentionalist, support local diverse-owned small businesses and include: Now Make Me A Sandwich, a Latino-owned food truck offering a delicious variety of sandwiches inspired by cuisine from all over the world; VeGo Eatz, a Black-owned vegan food truck, voted best vegan food in the Tacoma area; and El Cabrito, a Latino-owned food truck featuring made-from-scratch Southern Mexican food from the state of Oaxaca.
The North Plaza, Northwest Marshalling and West Concourse of the stadium are also where fans can find music curated by Sounders FC deejays DJ Vega and DJ Gradeay, as well as a selection of interactive games and activities, including:
• Pose with a Pro – An augmented reality experience that allows fans to have a virtual meeting with their favorite Sounders FC player, alongside a digital video of their encounter to share online.
• Sounders Penalty Kick – A digital activation where fans get five chances to score a goal against a virtual goalkeeper.
• Soccer Skee-ball – This activation allows fans to play a soccer-themed version of Skee-Ball, kicking a ball down a ramp, rather than rolling it, in order to score as many points as possible.
• Soccer Billiards – Fans can play a soccer-themed version of pool, challenging a partner and kicking colored soccer balls into the oversized pool table pockets before their opponent does.
Additionally in this area, ahead of a night bringing the Sounders FC First Team a chance to secure a new trophy, fans are invited to celebrate victories past and present with a special photo opportunity featuring the club’s 2016 and 2019 MLS Cups and the franchise’s most recent silverware: the 2022 Generation Adidas Cup. Secured in April by the club’s U-17 Academy squad with victories over the likes of the Philadelphia Union, CF Monterrey, Inter Miami CF and Tigres UANL, the 2022 title marks the second consecutive U-17 Generation Adidas Cup championship for Seattle, who also won the tournament in 2019 when it became the first MLS team to ever do so.
Members of the title-winning U-17 team will be in attendance to meet fans and take photos, giving attendees a chance to meet potential stars of the future.
Outside of Section 114 in the East Concourse, more special treats are available at Lumen Field’s PNW Marketplace concessions area, where two featured diverse-owned local restaurants, sourced in partnership with Intentionalist, include Umami Kushi – a Black-owned business producing Japanese okazu pans, beignets and yuzu kosho – and Salvadorean Bakery – a Latino, family and woman-owned business serving authentic Salvadorean desserts and pupusas.
All fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:45 p.m. PT to take in pre-match ceremonies, which are ushered in with a special Seattle music tribute and fireworks spectacular. Following this uniquely Seattle show, the club looks to shake the stadium as fans join the traditional Boom, Boom, Clap display during team walk-outs.
Dream Team youngsters accompanying players from both teams on the walk-outs are members of Dragons FC, a local community soccer club supported by Sounders FC’s charitable arm, RAVE Foundation.
The SCCL trophy is being presented in front of both teams on a trophy walk led by former USMNT and Sounders FC icon Kasey Keller, and the United States’ national anthem is being performed by Rave Green staple Jonathan Wright.
Just before kickoff, legend of the Sounders FC backline Chad Marshall returns to Seattle to lead the Scarves Up moment with the crowd.
At halftime, the aforementioned Sounders FC U-17 team is being recognized on-field for their accomplishment in the 2022 Generation Adidas Cup.
