SEATTLE, WASH. – Sounders FC today announced that midfielder Cristian Roldan has undergone successful groin surgery, performed by Dr. William B. Hutchinson on Tuesday, August 23 in Santa Monica, California. Roldan, who is set to begin rehabilitation immediately following the procedure, had been suffering from left athletic pubalgia and missed Friday’s match at the LA Galaxy.
Roldan, 27, was drafted by Sounders FC in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft and has since led the club to two MLS Cup titles, four MLS Cup Final appearances and the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League title. Earlier this season he became the second player in the MLS era to record 250 career appearances across all competitions for Sounders FC, and ranks third in club history with 47 assists and seventh with 36 goals across all competitions. Roldan has five goals and 10 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions in 2022.
