SEATTLE, WASH. – Sounders FC today announced that it has loaned midfielder Ethan Dobbelaere to MFK Vyškov of the Czech National Football League, the Czech Republic’s second division. The Homegrown Player is on a free loan through May 31, 2022, the end of MFK Vyškov’s season. Dobbelaere has eight First Team appearances and 27 appearances for Tacoma Defiance since 2019.
“We are excited about this opportunity for Ethan to develop as a player,” said Sounders General Manager & President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey. “Getting new experiences and additional playing time in different environments has proved to be beneficial for our players, and we can’t wait to see how Ethan improves during his time with MFK Vyškov.”
Dobbelaere, 19, signed a First Team contract in June of 2020 and has appeared in eight career matches for Sounders FC, including seven in 2021. Prior to joining the First Team, the Seattle native came up through Sounders FC Academy and was a part of the U-17 team that won the USDDA National Championship in 2018, as well as a Generation Adidas Cup title in both the Premier and Champions Division. He was one of three Sounders FC players (Danny Leyva, Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez) to make the roster for 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup, making a substitute appearance against Senegal and earning a start against the Netherlands.
Sounders FC continues to prepare for the 2022 season, kicking off the competitive calendar with a home-and-away series against F.C. Motagua in the 2022 Concacaf Champions League. Seattle plays in Honduras on February 17 before hosting Motagua on February 24 at Lumen Field. The Rave Green’s 2022 MLS campaign begins at home on February 27 vs. Nashville SC.
