All donations will support Washington Youth Soccer after-school program
RENTON, Wash. - The Sounders FC and Washington Youth Soccer announced today a soccer equipment drive on Wednesday, October 9 prior to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC match at CenturyLink Field. Volunteers will be collecting new and gently used soccer gear and equipment and/or cash donations at all gates and the Pro Shop located on the west side of the stadium.
All donations will support Washington Youth Soccer's Soccer for Success program.
Soccer for Success is the U.S. Soccer Foundation's innovative youth development program that uses soccer as a tool to combat childhood obesity and promote healthy lifestyles for children in under-resourced urban communities. Soccer for Success uses sport for social change and strives to address the holistic needs of under-served children. The program provides free after-school soccer programs to over 500 children in 11 elementary schools in the Highline, Tukwila, Kent, and Auburn school districts.
The most needed soccer gear and equipment includes the following:
• Jerseys
• Shorts
• Pinnies
• Soccer cones
• Shin guards
• Soccer shoes/cleats (youth sizes preferred)
