Seattle Sounders FC today announced that the club is paying tribute to team owner Paul Allen at Sunday’s regular-season finale against the San Jose Earthquakes (1:30 p.m. PT / JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). The team previously issued a statement of support following the news of Allen’s passing on October 15, and players wore black armbands during last week’s ensuing road matches against Orlando City SC and the Houston Dynamo.
At this week’s match, Sounders FC players will replace the armbands with a black “PGA” initial patch on the center of all jerseys, below the neckline.
The team is also holding a moment of silence before kickoff, as well as reading a statement over the public address system to honor Allen’s legacy in the region. Additionally, the flags in CenturyLink Field’s North Plaza will be set at half-staff.
