For the seventh edition (Saturday, May 2) of Sounders FC Classics, a new series in which we re-air some of the best matches in club history, we want you to choose the next game!
Presented by WaFd Bank, the three options fall under the theme Vintage Week, spotlighting some of the most influential matches during the club’s early days in Major League Soccer.
The first option is the club’s inaugural match, in which the Rave Green burst onto the scene with a dominant 3-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls in front of a raucous home crowd. Next up is Kasey Keller’s final regular season game as a Sounder. A legend for both club and country, it was a fitting sendoff for Keller, whose four-save sequence in the 65th minute with the team down 1-0 to the San Jose Earthquakes kept the team in the match, which they eventually won 2-1.
Last but not least is the 2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids on July 7, 2012, when Steve Zakuani made his triumphant return to the pitch after over a year on the sidelines due to gruesome injury he suffered against the same opponent.
