Seattle Sounders FC today announced a new way that fans can give back to the Seattle community while taking in the team’s first action at CenturyLink Field on February 20 as the club faces Uruguay’s Club Nacional in an international friendly. In recognition of the city’s snowiest February on record with 20.2 inches, Sounders FC is offering a limited number of special $20.20 tickets for next Wednesday’s match, with all proceeds from the initiative being donated to Street Soccer Seattle, a local nonprofit that uses soccer to empower young adults who have been affected by homelessness.
In addition, with midwinter break scheduled for Seattle Public Schools next week, Sounders FC is also offering free admission to the friendly for all children under 12 with a ticketed adult.
“As a club, we’re always looking for new ways to support our fans as well as our overall community, and next week’s match against Nacional provides a great opportunity to combine the two,” said Sounders FC Chief Operating Officer Bart Wiley. “We’re excited to offer the specially-priced tickets so that everyone has a chance to come support the Rave Green while also giving back to the community through Street Soccer Seattle. Last week’s weather was historic, and with midwinter school break upon us, we wanted to provide kids and parents a fun atmosphere in which to take part.”
To take advantage of the special $20.20 pricing, fans should purchase tickets through SeatGeek using access code SFCFriendly.
Along with the affordability of this special initiative, fans attending the match at CenturyLink Field next Wednesday and subsequent games all season long can enjoy the Sounders FC Value Menu. New in 2019, the Value Menu offers $2 popcorn, $3 hot dogs, $4 soda (12 ounce can) and $5 domestic beer (12 ounce can, Budweiser or Bud Light). Additionally, the menu offers the $12 Full 90 Combo, which includes two hot dogs, two waters and one popcorn; or the $12 Grab ‘n’ Go Combo, which includes chips, water and an entrée of fan’s choice. All fans can take advantage of these new deals all season long. For further details about value menu items and available stadium locations, visit SoundersFC.com/ValueMenu.
Next Wednesday’s match marks Sounders FC’s first international friendly of 2019, as the Rave Green prepare for their upcoming MLS season. Founded in 1899, Club Nacional has won Uruguay’s top division 46 times, with the most recent domestic championship coming in 2016, as well as taking three Copa Libertadores titles. The Uruguayan club holds special significance for midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro, who joined the Montevideo-based side at age 14 before debuting with the First Team at age 18. Lodeiro scored nine goals in 49 appearances in all competitions through three seasons and helped lead Nacional to the semifinals of the 2009 Copa Libertadores. He also won the 2008-2009 Primera Division with the team.
