Seattle Sounders FC today announced the sale of exclusive “SFC At Home Together” t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts, providing fans with a fun, wearable way to both showcase passion for the team and support local small businesses through the current health crisis. All proceeds from sales of the merchandise will benefit the Sounders FC Relief Fund, which provides emergency grants to individuals and small businesses in the neighborhoods surrounding CenturyLink Field that have been negatively affected by the ongoing suspension of the Major League Soccer season. In its first grant cycle, the Sounders FC Relief Fund awarded over $200,000 in direct assistance to 143 individuals and 17 small businesses.
“We’re excited to offer these unique ‘SFC At Home Together’ shirts to all of those who are missing seeing the Rave Green right now,” said Sounders FC President of Business Operations Peter Tomozawa. “From its artwork to its production, we’re proud to have worked with longstanding fans and Alliance Members on this project while supporting their local businesses. We hope the design will make everyone smile, and that they’ll wear it with pride both for the club and our Seattle community.”
During the current Stay at Home order in Washington, Head Coach Brian Schmetzer has been hosting weekly video calls with the entire team, keeping players engaged and communicating with their teammates. Inspired by this meeting, Sounders FC collaborated with artist and longtime fan Bill Wood and inaugural Sounders FC Alliance Member Tony Ciocca, a partner at Column design studio in Pioneer Square, to design the “SFC At Home Together” artwork to pay homage to the way video calls have helped society communicate and connect more than ever in these times.
The artwork features a tiled design in green, black and white, mimicking the look of a video call. Schmetzer sits in the center tile, surrounded by the entire team. Fans will recognize a selection of entertaining “Easter eggs” in many panels, from Nico Lodeiro’s popular shoe phone to Miguel Ibarra’s out-of-seasonChristmas tree.
Another of the club’s Alliance Members, Keith Edwards, is sharing his resources to bring the project to life. Edwards owns Inker Prints, a local small business, and will be fulfilling all orders for the “SFC At Home Together” merchandise, from screen printing the shirts to processing and shipping the orders in weekly batches.
T-Shirts are priced at $24.99 and sweatshirts at $49.99, with all proceeds supporting the Sounders FC Relief Fund. However, this Saturday, May 16, during the club’s Sounders FC Classics broadcast from 7:00-9:00 p.m. PT, t-shirts will be available for $19.74 with promo code BORNIN74, celebrating the birth of the original Sounders franchise.
