Seattle Sounders FC today announced important updates affecting the club’s home matches at Lumen Field, beginning with this Sunday’s doubleheader event, where re-entry into Lumen Field is now permitted in between the day’s two matches. Additionally, the club is sharing updated face mask policies for all of its events inside Lumen Field.
In listening to fan feedback and considering best practices for health and safety, the club is now allowing fans who enter Lumen Field for the first match of Sunday’s slate, featuring OL Reign vs. Portland Thorns FC, to scan out of the stadium at any time between 5:15 and 6:45 p.m. PT from the northwest gate or southwest gate before returning at a later time to re-enter for Sounders FC vs. Portland Timbers.
Sunday’s event is a single-ticketed experience, with one ticket providing entry to both NWSL and MLS matches. Fans choosing to leave Lumen Field and re-enter must officially scan out from either the northwest gate or southwest gate in order for their ticket to be valid for re-entry later in the evening.
In accordance with the latest order from Governor Jay Inslee and the Washington State Department of Public Health, Sounders FC is also sharing with fans the club’s updated face mask policy for all events at Lumen Field.
Effective immediately, the updated policy being enforced by Lumen Field requires all stadium guests ages five and older to wear a mask in all indoor areas of the stadium, regardless of vaccination status. This policy is inclusive of the club level, west field plaza, south main concourse and restrooms throughout the building.
“The health and safety of everyone in the stadium on Sounders matchdays – from fans to players to media to stadium employees – is our primary concern and something we take extremely seriously,” said Sounders FC Owner and President of Business Operations Peter Tomozawa. “While Lumen Field will be enforcing the new Washington State mask mandate in indoor spaces, we know that masks are an incredibly important public health tool in the fight against COVID-19 and strongly encourage all of our fans to mask up in all areas of the stadium, whenever possible and regardless of vaccination status.”
Tomozawa continued, “While Sounders FC has been thrilled to welcome fans back to matches this season, we recognize that this pandemic has not ended. This updated masking guidance provides one important way for us to protect ourselves and each other, but our entire organization continues to urge anyone who is eligible to be vaccinated and has not yet gotten their shot to do so as soon as they can.”
Lumen Field has implemented an array of enhanced measures to make Sounders FC matchday and all stadium events as safe as possible, including a touchless venue experience, new food and beverage protocols, in addition to enhanced sanitation procedures.
