Sounders FC today announced its collection of themed matchdays for the 2018 season, including dates for the club’s annual Pride match, among others. The team also announced the immediate on-sale availability of 2018 ticket Mini Packs, presented by Fred Meyer. The four, four-game packages highlight different match selections based around corresponding matchday scheduling or matchday activities and include the Family Pack, Rivalry Pack, Sunday Funday Pack and Community Pack.
Nine matches in 2018 are set to feature special themes, which are listed below. Additional details regarding each match’s particular activities are scheduled to be released in the days leading up to each match:
- May 5 vs. Columbus Crew SC: GIVEBIG
As part of Seattle Foundation’s annual GIVEBIG campaign, Sounders FC players, coaches and front office staff select a community cause of choice, helping bring awareness to issues that matter to each individual. Fans have a chance to learn more about their favorite players’ causes and are encouraged to also give back under the single, impactful platform. - May 26 vs. Real Salt Lake, presented by Washington Federal: Sounders FC / Seattle Mariners Double Header
Sounders FC once again teams up with next-door neighbor the Seattle Mariners for a day full of Seattle sports on Memorial Day weekend. The Double Header special contains a 300-level ticket to Sounders FC’s early afternoon match against Real Salt Lake, a 100-level ticket to see the Mariners versus the Minnesota Twins later in the evening, and an exclusive Double Header beanie – all for $50. Fans should note that the Rave Green’s kickoff time has been adjusted to 2:00 p.m. PT. Details on purchasing the Double Header offer are being made available at a later date. - June 9 vs. D.C. United: Sounders in Russia
Sounders FC celebrates the approach of the 2018 FIFA World Cup with special matchday elements highlighting the Sounders FC players who are competing for their respective nations. - June 23 vs. Chicago Fire, presented by Starbucks: Pride
Dedicated to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, Sounders FC’s annual Pride match is a fan favorite. In addition to matchday elements showcasing Pride, a special ticket offer is to be available, allowing fans to receive a limited edition, clear Sounders FC Pride fanny pack, while $5 of every ticket purchased through the offer is donated to the GSBA Scholarship Fund. - June 30 vs. Portland Timbers, presented by Alcatel: Special Olympics USA Games
The City of Seattle serves as the host for the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games this summer, with Sounders FC players Jordan Morris and Cristian Roldan, along with alumni Kasey Keller, Roger Levesque and Taylor Graham, serving as a number of the distinguished ambassadors for the event. Sounders FC is set to celebrate the talents of athletes with intellectual disabilities as the team hosts the rival Timbers. A ticket offer provides fans a limited edition, Sounders FC and 2018 Special Olympics USA Games scarf. - July 21 vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC, presented by Washington Federal: Heritage
The club pays homage to its past against an old Cascadia rival during the annual Heritage match. - July 29 vs. New York City FC, presented by adidas: RAVE Foundation
Highlighting RAVE Foundation, the official charitable arm of Sounders FC, this match gives fans a chance to learn more about RAVE’s work in underserved communities throughout the Puget Sound region. - September 29 vs. Colorado Rapids, presented by CenturyLink: Kick Childhood Cancer
Sounders FC and MLS again go gold in the month of September to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research. At this match, the club contributes inspiring and empowering experience for youth and their families who are battling cancer. - October 28 vs. San Jose Earthquakes: Fan Appreciation
On Decision Day 2018, Sounders FC continues its tradition of celebrating its dedicated fans with special moments and giveaways featured throughout the game, including the presentation of 2018 Sounders FC Fan of the Year following the match.
In addition to match themes, fans may also now take advantage of 2018 Mini Packs. The first 500 fans to purchase a Mini Pack receive a $25 gift card to Fred Meyer.
Each package features four matches grouped together around a theme of scheduling or activities including:
- Family Pack: Includes matches with engaging matchday themes, rivalry games and a Forever Green Kids Club event
- Rivalry Pack: Includes matches against Real Salt Lake, Portland Timbers, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the LA Galaxy
- Sunday Funday Pack: Includes four Sunday afternoon matches spread between April and October
- Community Pack: Includes matches that support particular social, ecological or health causes
The Rave Green are currently on a bye week from league play due to a FIFA international break, with four Sounders FC players headed for national team duty. The club’s next match is set for Saturday, March 31 against the Montreal Impact on the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field (7:00 p.m. PT / JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
