Seattle Sounders FC and OL Reign today announced that the two teams are partnering to offer an exclusive doubleheader matchday at Lumen Field this August, giving soccer fans in the Puget Sound the unique opportunity to see both their men’s and women’s professional teams play at the same venue on the same day.
Making the event even more exciting, both teams are facing their Portland nemeses, with OL Reign taking on Portland Thorns FC at 4:00 p.m. PT followed by Sounders FC battling the Portland Timbers at 7:30 p.m. PT.
“Sounders FC is thrilled to come together with OL Reign to offer this exceptional day of elite competition, intense rivalry and the celebration of soccer,” said Sounders FC Majority Owner Adrian Hanauer. “As Seattle continues to make its case as a host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, this event provides a perfect platform to showcase the passion of the fans in the region, our amazing stadium, and the city’s position as one of the best sports sites in the country. As we look ahead to increasing stadium capacity and welcoming larger crowds back to Lumen Field as the summer progresses, I can think of no better way of doing so than by gathering together to support both OL Reign and Sounders FC on the same night.”
“This is a day soccer fans in the Pacific Northwest—including me—have waited a very long time to see happen,” said OL Reign CEO BillPredmore. “We are deeply appreciative of our partnership with the Sounders and thank Adrian and his staff for their tireless effort to make this event a reality. It will be a special moment for our players, our club, our supporters, and I hope for everybody in the Pacific Northwest. We have assembled a special group of players this season, so I am thrilled a new group of fans will be introduced to our team, and I am excited that our players will be able to experience one of the most extraordinary soccer environments in our country.”
This special event offers fans the chance to see top athletes from the men’s and women’s game, including multiple members of the U.S. Women’s National Team, who will be returning to the NWSL after representing their country at the summer Olympic Games in Tokyo. With matches against Portland always bringing extra fervor, the stage is set for a special day of soccer in Seattle. Additional details, including matchday programming and entertainment between the two matches, are being released at a later date.
The doubleheader is being treated as a single-ticketed event, with one ticket providing access to both games. Therefore, Sounders FC’s Season Ticket Members receive the Reign-Thorns match as part of their existing ticket package and will have the ability to manage those tickets in the coming month in a similar fashion to any of their usual games. For fans who are not currently Season Ticket Members, Sounders FC plans to offer partial season ticket packages that include the doubleheader, as well as single-match tickets to the day’s event.
Further information regarding on-sale dates for partial packages, single-match tickets and group ticketing options is forthcoming, as both teams adhere to developing health and stadium capacity guidelines.
