The Seattle Sounders have clinched a spot in the 2022 Concacaf Champions League.
Following the Sounders' 1-1 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place on Decision Day, the Sounders have booked passage into the 2022 edition of CCL, the region's premier club soccer competition. Colorado's 5-2 win over LAFC saw the Rapids finish first in the West, with the Sounders finishing second and earning the CCL spot usually reserved for the U.S. Open Cup winners. The fourth and final spot for MLS qualification will go to the winner of MLS Cup.
Seattle last competed in the CCL during the 2019 season. Often billed as a measuring stick against the top teams in Liga MX, the Sounders will enter the 2022 edition of CCL on the back of a strong run of form against Mexican competition after reaching the final of the Leagues Cup by defeating Tigres and Santos Laguna.
