There was just so much to be happy about on Saturday.
A fantastic match against English Premier League opposition. Clint Dempsey being named the cover athlete for FIFA 15. And of course, Xander Bailey.
In other words, Saturday had a bit of everything. And the sun even poked its head out from the clouds to bring us some extra light to take in the tear-enducing opener to the match...one that saw Bailey take the opening kick from Clint Dempsey. As my friend Likkit P often mentions on moments like this, the dust levels in Seattle rise to weird levels. Always have some in my eyes, you know.
Let's recap the day's entire schedule of fun. Get the tissues ready.
Hendo got us pumped up for the match with this stunning photo from last week’s match vs. Portland.
The day had come.
Oh DeAndre, you sneaky devil.
First time fans at CenturyLink Field have seen Pitch Black. Newsflash: they loved it.
Your starting XI…with Xander up front.
The kid had some moves, you guys.
Right in the mix with the guys and Schmetz.
Truer words have never been used as a caption on Vine.
Never gets old. It also never gets old that I say it never gets old because it really never gets old. #nevergetsold
How freaking sweet is this though?!
What a start.
Good start for the visitors.
And then this. Marshall gets battered in the box and Pineda slots home the PK with his usual style and grace.
Whistle blows for the half.
Then Ozzie nearly ripped the cover off the thing.
Another PK called. Another conversion.
Then the Sounders take the lead once more!
All tied up at 3-3 after this one. Oh well. Fun match, right!
A look at Clint’s massive face in the Green Zone before the match.
ESPN got in on the Xander love. So much Xander love.
Was a great result at CenturyLink Field.
So this was pretty cool.
Big ups to our boys in North London.
And the love is reciprocated.
And then this news came out. Booya.
Now this is just fantastic.
Thank you, Xander.
Ozzie’s goal was just off the charts silly.
So dusty in here…
No dust in those eyes.
Brad loved the day, too.
As did Ozzie and his rocket of a goal.
Fantastic picture to end a fantastic day.
