It's been a long while since Sounders supporters hoisted that shiny Cup that declares a king of the Cascadia region. They watched it be stripped away in the final moments on home turf just a year ago and sat gutted, knowing it would be at least a year until the Cup returned to its rightful place among the best supporters in the league.
Finally, the wait is over. Last night, the boys in Rave Green decided it was time to bring the Cup home and they did so quite emphatically. Andreas Ivanschitz made his first start for the club and scored his first goal, similarly to Nelson Valdez's debut just a few weeks earlier. In the second half, Gonzalo Pineda decided to curl one in to double the lead, only further sealing the 'Caps fate.
Clint Dempsey didn't take kindly to a two-footed challenge at midfield and decided to combine with Oba to shut any glimmers of hope Vancouver might have had down with a third goal.
