One goal ended up being all Sounders FC 2 needed to secure three points at Starfire last night, as Pablo Rossi netted the game-winner in the second half via a low Andy Craven cross.
However, it was S2 goalkeeper Charlie Lyon who stood on his head (hockey season is over, but the phrase lives on) to keep the visiting Real Monarchs from finding the net even once. Lyon made a season-high ten saves, and the S2 defense added a few more blocks to keep every single one of the Monarchs' 14 shots on goal from going in. The 23-year-old goalkeeper made USL Team of the Week for a similar performance against Arizona United SC, and that seemed to be just a taste of what the big man can do.
But a goal and a few..ok...a lot of saves weren't all that happened last night in Tukwila, so I am here to catch you up with this week's S2 Social Timeline!
My favorite day of the week!
This was a toughy, but one lucky fan answered correctly.
DING DING DING!
Read up, people. This stuff is good.
Well, hello there Pumas!
That is one solid group of men, if you ask me.
Off to the races at Starfire! Three points are on their way!
I couldn't resist, the tune is so catchy.
This was the first, and it certainly wouldn't be the last.
We can't stop sharing this goal...
What I meant to say is, HE IS GREAT!
Charlie was big in the first half, but nobody scored. That's a bummer.
He might be a little biased, but we don't disagree.
PABLO ROSSI GOAL OOOOHHH YEAAAAH!
We still don't disagree here Mr. Frei.
And now for a numbered list of why Charlie Lyon is the man.
Amadou Sanyang, Oalex Anderson, Djimi Traore, Patrick Ianni...The list of Sounders Bikes goes on.
That's what's up.
And that would about do it for the Rave Green! S2 nailed down three points at home, and moves on to face Timbers 2 on Monday! Make sure to follow along right here on SoundersFC.com
