The Seattle Sounders are visiting Sporting Kansas City on Saturday in their first of two meetings in the regular season. Here is everything you need to know:

WHEN AND WHERE: Kickoff is at 11:30 a.m. PT (1:30 p.m. local time) at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan.

WHERE TO WATCH: The match will be available to watch on FOX and Apple TV.

WHERE TO LISTEN: The match will air on 93.3 KJR FM and in Spanish on El Rey 1360AM.

2026 MLS STANDINGS: Sounders: 6-1-1 (19 points, 4th West), SKC: 1-7-1 (4 points, 15th West)

FORM GUIDE (all competitions, most recent first): WWWLW, Sporting KC: LLLLL

PREVIOUS MEETING: The Sounders defeated SKC 5-2 at Lumen Field on Aug. 24, 2025. Seattle was lifted by a Danny Musovski hat trick along with goals from Kalani Kossa-Rienzi and Snyder Brunell, while Sporting’s goals came from Mason Toye and a Sounders own goal.

BRIEF AWAY TRIP: Following a lengthy road trip to begin the season, Saturday’s visit to Kansas City is the lone away game between two three-match homestands at Lumen Field.

MORRIS ON THE SCORE SHEET: After missing much of the beginning of the season with a quad injury, Jordan Morris bagged an assist and his first goal of 2026 in last week’s win over FC Dallas en route to an MLS Team of the Matchday nod. Now the veteran forward returns to Sporting Park, a place where in 2023 he famously scored four goals in a Sounders rout.

FLYING OUT THE GATES: Eschewing the longtime narrative that Seattle starts seasons slow, the 2026 Sounders have stormed out of the gates, recording 19 points from just eight matches, a 2.38 PPG clip that is fourth-best in the entire league.

DEFENSIVE FOCUS: Part of the Sounders’ early success has been their ability to put the clamps on teams defensively, something they admittedly lacked last year and aimed to correct this offseason. Seattle has conceded just four times, the fewest in MLS, even with considerable injuries to its back line.

Size: 30” x 40”.

NEW FACE IN KC: For the first time since 2009, SKC entered this season with someone other than Peter Vermes in charge. Vermes and SKC mutually parted ways last year, and in his stead is Raphaël Wicky, who previously managed the Chicago Fire from 2020-21 and was most recently at BSC Young Boys in his native Switzerland.

FREE FALLING: It’s been a rough start to the Wicky era, though, as SKC enters this weekend last in MLS with just four points from nine games. The underlying numbers are even worse. SKC is last in Expected Goals For, Expected Goals Against, and have been outscored 21-3 over their last five matches, including a 3-0 loss to USL Championship side Colorado Springs Switchbacks in the U.S. Open Cup.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Dejan Joveljić, F

The lone bright spot for KC has been four goals from Designated Player Joveljić, who is in his second season with the club since being acquired from the LA Galaxy for $4M. Even he has just 1.54 Expected Goals, however, and no other SKC player has scored more than once.
